Rumtopf (Rumpot) preserves, and beverage, is a German winter tradition. Instead of canning or pickling fruit, you soak it in rum and sugar. You’ll add fruit as it comes into season and is at its peak flavor. Traditionally it is placed in a rumpot ceramic canister, but a large mason jar works just fine for a smaller batch.

Edelweiss just had her 3rd birthday. I didn’t have a big first birthday for her, and her second birthday was kind of a bust due to the weather. So this one had to be good! She wanted a Disney Princess party. She couldn’t make up her mind about which princess she wanted her party to be about, so we included all of the Disney Princess’s we could. Which was great because we didn’t have to stick to a specific color scheme.

I already have a pale pink dining room, which was perfect, but the art work in that room just didn’t work. For the party, I replaced them with Disney Princess silhouettes, which I made the night before. I waited until the last moment because I didn’t want her to see them before the reveal.
